Meanwhile, add the 1/2 tablespoon of cooking oil to a large skillet, and heat over medium heat. If you have less, just add a little water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to just under medium, and let simmer covered for 30 minutes. If you have more, you may reduce it to the desired amount (for a more concentrated flavor) or simply freeze the extra. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 1/2 hour. Add all the other ingredients, whisking to mix in the tomato paste. After the seasoning meat has simmered first, add the field peas and snaps to the sauce pot.
